Grief is as close to a universal human experience as it gets. It’s the process we go through when a deeply held relationship with someone or something permanently changes in a way that will never change back. It can feel like an unwelcome, seismic shift that changes our world. For us at Kaleidoscope Pathways, grief is not something we finish like a plate of food; it does not begin with denial and end with acceptance. For us, grief is a changing, evolving, integral presence in our lives that impacts who we are and who we will become. Most importantly, our cultural beliefs and practices inform how we grieve. The grieving process forever tethers us to what was lost and manifests in our sadness, joy, visitations, celebrations, and so much more.
